After our Easter Sunday morning service members of our congregation – from the oldest to the youngest – gathered outside the church to scatter white and red poppy seeds. This was part of a URC initiative to mark the centenary of the declaration of the First World War. The white poppies represent peace and the red are for remembrance, and the hope is that they will bloom on or around 4 August, the anniversary of the date the declaration was made.
A rainy afternoon ensured that they were well watered in, so we look forward to a great display in the summer!
