Chef Saju Mathew’s legendary curry evenings are now so popular that there is usually a waiting list in operation!
Yet another successful fundraising event was held on Friday, when over 80 people were catered for, with guests enjoying a varied menu including lamb biriyani, tandoori chicken, lentil spinach curry, and vegetable jalfreze. As usual, there was a plentiful supply of food, with opportunity for second helpings, and even thirds!
All food was prepared by Saju with the assistance of his family. It was especially good to see Melvin again, who had returned from university to help out.
There was a stall with handmade goods from Palani for sale, and a raffle for a beautiful hand crocheted blanket, which one of our supporters had made for us. All the money raised from the event will be sent to Palani to fund the training of our two community nurses, with enough left over to fund other life-changing projects.
These evenings are a wonderful opportunity for our church family to come together, and to invite members of the wider Fleet community into our church in fellowship.
Thank you to Saju and his family, and to all the other organisers who make these evenings so successful.
