All our work with children and young people is founded on the Charter for Children in the Church. This charter sees children and young people as equal partners with everyone else in the life of the church. They have their great contribution to make, and are seen as part of the church of today as well as, hopefully, the church of tomorrow.
We are proud to have received a Child Friendly Church award under this nationally recognised scheme which acknowledges churches that can prove that they truly welcome and involve children.
Everyone who works with the young has their DBS Certificate, and we have systems in place to ensure that our premises are a safe place for all. Training is offered to all who work with children and young people.

Fleet URC Child Protection PolicySunday morning activities for all children begin with joining the adults for worship in the church at 10 am. We have brightly coloured cushions at the front for the smallest children, and the first two or three rows of chairs are usually used by the older children, parents and group leaders. Children usually leave the service to go to their group after the second hymn.
For babies and younger children we have activity bags for ‘entertainment’, and bags of instruments that can be played during the hymns. A creche room is also available, where parents can go with their children at any time. The service is relayed through speakers into the room.
Our group for school-age children is called ‘Footsteps’. For more information about Footsteps please click here.
There is also a Toddlers group in the church hall on Friday mornings from 10 am, where pre-school children can play and parents and carers can meet. All are welcome.
The 4th and 8th Fleet Brownies and the 1st Fleet West and 8th Fleet Rainbows are affiliated to our church and meet on our premises on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.
For more information about any of these groups, please see the individual section in the drop-down menu above, or contact the Church Administrator on 01252 623629 (ansaphone – please leave a message).
