On Sunday 18th July we celebrated the 98th birthday of our church. Our morning worship was led by the Revd Roberta Rominger, General Secretary of the United Reformed Church, who talked about the image we present to the outside world. She spoke movingly of the commitment and outreach of many of our churches who are making a real difference to their local communities and demonstrating to all that truly ‘Christ is in us’ (Colossians 1, 27).
We were delighted to be joined by many visitors from neighbouring churches, and after the service we all enjoyed a time of fellowship together with refreshments and a special anniversary cake. There followed a lively question and answer session, when Roberta discussed the forthcoming Vision 2020 strategy and plans to raise the profile of the URC.
