Our morning worship on 2nd September was led by our Minister, Revd Ruth Dillon, and Bee Griffiths, who focussed on their recent trip to Palani Mission, Tamil Nadu. This moving service featured devotional worship and music from Kerala and Tamil Nadu, as well as photos and videos taken on their trip. Mary, Melvin and Mahima Mathew read from the Bible in their native tongue, Malayalam, and Mary also sang.
At the end of the service Ruth presented our church with gifts that the Mission had sent back for us:
During their time in Palani Ruth and Bee met the two girls whom we have sponsored in their midwifery training; they also met the two new girls whom we will sponsor in their three-year training to become community nurses. In addition, with the money raised from the charity evenings, together with free-will donations from members and friends of the church, Ruth and Bee set up several projects. They are all designed to alleviate poverty by providing the means to buy food and manufacture clothing for disadvantaged people associated with Palani Mission.
There will be a meeting at 7.30 pm on Friday 7th September in the Church Hall where we will be discussing the visit in more detail and establishing the way forward. Please come along – we would value your input.
