Our Pilots and young people’s groups have been busy raising money to buy ducks for Bangladesh.
Duck farming is a new type of farming introduced by Christian Aid to counter the effects of climate change in Bangladesh, where flooding caused by climate change is destroying land and crops. Ducks enjoy the wet weather and can survive floods so farmers can gain valuable income by selling their eggs. Ducks also counter the need for insecticides and fertilisers by eating insects and leaving droppings.
Over several weeks the young people invited members of the congregation to bring in loose change and cover a ‘duck pond’ mat with the money. They also had fun fishing for ducks in a paddling pond. In a fantastic result, a total of £420 was raised, enabling seven batches of ducks to be sent to Bangladesh. Well done to you all!
