We are a very welcoming and caring congregation, committed to worship and service, open to change and development, and determined to share in God’s mission in God’s world. Our commitment is to deepening fellowship, engaging in outreach to the community, and working creatively in projects for justice, peace, and the integrity of creation.
We are multicultural, and have welcomed people not only from all over the British Isles, but also from all parts of the globe. We try to foster a family atmosphere, with the opportunity for everyone to be involved.
Our children and young people are at the heart of our church, and are seen as equal partners with everyone else. We are proud to have been officially recognised as a Child Friendly Church.
We have regular social events which are open to all, and a full roast Sunday lunch is cooked once a quarter for older people and those living alone. A very well supported weekly Coffee Morning on Thursdays draws people from other churches, as well as those who do not normally attend church.
Our modern facilities are used extensively by outside organisations, including youth groups, which means that many people in the area now come regularly to our premises. We often share fellowship with hall users at our popular social events.
A prayer box is available in the vestibule, which is for the use of all visitors to the church. The worship space is open, with music playing, whenever there are groups using the premises, and a permanent invitation is extended for people to use this facility for prayer and meditation. Our candle tree symbolises the importance of prayer within our church life. Members of our congregation have the opportunity to light candles of prayer each week.
You will always receive a warm welcome at Fleet United Reformed Church.
