The persecution of Christians has been severe in Communist countries. Karl Marx was the inspiration behind Communism.
The daughter of Karl Marx explained to a friend that she had never been brought up in any religion, and had never been religious in any way. She said that she had just come across a prayer “which I really wish could be true”. She was asked about the prayer. Then slowly, the daughter of the founder of Marxism began to say, “Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name…”
Let’s remind ourselves for a moment that we are in God’s presence…
(Pause…)
Let’s pray those same words – The Lord’s Prayer – joining in spirit with those millions of people down the ages who have suffered and been imprisoned and tortured for their faith:
PRAYER
Our Father, who art in heaven
hallowed be thy name;
thy kingdom come:
thy will be done on earth
as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread;
and forgive us our trespasses
as we forgive those
who trespass against us:
and lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil…
