Fleet URC On-Line Resources

Welcome to Fleet URC On Line

During the current Covid-19 pandemic, while we are no longer able to gather to worship God in our church building, we are creating new ways of being church together.

Each Sunday you will find here a worship video from our Minister Ruth, or from Lay Preacher Karen Smith.  Please stay connected and join us each Sunday as we worship together.

You can also take part via our Church Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/fleeturc/;
or connect through Twitter: https://twitter.com/FleetURC.
See also our YouTube Channel, where you will find all our videos.

Holy Communion is celebrated at 11 am on the first Sunday of the month and is hosted on the Zoom platform.  Invitations are sent out beforehand, but please email our church secretary if you have not received one, or if you don’t have a computer and would like information about connecting to the service by phone.

We are now able to offer our weekly service in an audio-only format, which is suitable for anyone who doesn’t have a computer. Please pass on the following information to anyone you feel might be helped by this.

The audio service is accessed by dialling this number: 01252 978350. You will hear a recorded voice say, ‘Welcome. The Fleet and Beacon Hill United Reformed Church Service will play shortly’; and then there is quite a long pause before the service cuts in. (Please be patient as this can take a while.) The cost of the call is your normal charge for an 01252 (Fleet area) phone call.

‘Faith and Life’ podcasts: Our minister has recorded several short podcasts, where she reflects on our spiritual and emotional response to the current situation.  These are hosted on the ‘Faith and Life Podcast’ page of this website.

Virtual Prayer Meetings, Nurture Group and Coffee Morning

We now hold monthly Prayer Meetings at 2 pm on the second Monday of the month, and a monthly Nurture Group/Bible Study at 11 am on the third Monday of the month.  Please contact our church secretary for the dates of the next meetings.

Virtual Coffee mornings, often with a quiz, are held on Thursdays every week at 11 am. All the above meetings are hosted on the Zoom platform, and work well by helping us to keep in touch and support one another.  If you do not receive an invitation and would like to join us, please email our Church Secretary.

You can find some helpful prayers to guide us through the uncertainty of the present time here: Prayers for Troubled Times.

If you feel in need of prayer for yourself or a loved one, a small group of people within our church are operating a Prayer Circle to support you. Please contact Margaret Tracey in the first instance on 01252 246195.

Support from the United Reformed Church

To sign up for the URC Daily Devotions, for daily Bible readings and reflections delivered directly to your In Box, follow this link: URC Daily Devotions Sign-Up Page

Prayers in a Pandemic : The URC Daily Devotion writers are writing weekly prayers to bring us comfort and spiritual support during the Coronavirus pandemic.  We are invited to use these devotions in our private prayers and prayer groups.  Each Thursday a new prayer is published here: https://urc.org.uk/prayers-during-the-pandemic.

During the Covid-19 emergency, while URC church buildings are closed, the URC is providing a weekly Sunday service in a radio-style / podcast with hymns, readings, prayers and a sermon, provided by churches around the denomination.  The Sunday Service email arrives in your inbox around 9:45am on Sundays and contains a link to the service, an order of service, and words for you to sing along with the hymns.

The United Reformed Church has also compiled a list of resources and advice to support us through these uncertain times. There is lots of helpful information, including a list of churches offering live streamed services, prayers, and guides to using social media to keep in touch. This list is updated regularly, so do keep checking back through this link: URC List of Resources and Advice.
