Farewell…

From the Revd Stephen M Thornton:

Stephen M Thornton

The last Sunday in August was my last Sunday as Minister of Word and Sacraments with this congregation in Fleet. I came seven years ago, have been glad to share in the life of the Church, and to make my contribution to its life. Thank you to everyone who has played their part in our life together – I am very grateful.

I move into retirement from being a minister of a local church, but I will continue to play my part in the life of the whole Church, leading worship, study days and weekends, leading pilgrimages, and being a tutor to students.

For this congregation, grateful for the past, God calls you on to new adventures, playing a meaningful part in God’s plan for all the world. Go to it, and God is with us all. As the saying goes, ‘the task before us is not so great as the power behind us!’

And to people who read this from wider afield: come on!!   God calls us all to amazing witness. God forbid that we should let God down.

We were sorry we missed your last service, but we thought of you on that Sunday while we were away.
I am sure we will see you again in the future but you will always be a part of Fleet URC in our heart and mind.
Thank you for leading, teaching and being a guiding presence.
Good luck, keep well and enjoy your retirement
    Moray, Katie and Darrell
