Our coffee morning last week was a fundraiser for local charity, Ocean Stars Trust. This charity was set up by Dilanee Bunter in 2005, initially to help rebuild shattered lives following the Boxing Day tsunami. It now supports a wide range of projects across Sri Lanka, with a special interest in offering greater educational opportunities for children.
Our coffee morning, together with fundraising efforts by our Pilots group, raised more than £300 for the charity. An additional amount was donated from church funds.
Our photos show Dilanee and Ocean Stars representatives receiving the cheque at the coffee morning, as well as two pupils from Calthorpe Park School, who came along to sell hand made cards and speak about their own experiences in Sri Lanka.
