Local Mission

At Fleet United Reformed Church we are committed to local mission.   When our church premises were extensively modified in 2004 it was intended from the outset that they should be used for the benefit of the local community.  Our meeting rooms and hall are now in great demand with about thirty local organisations coming to us each week.  To find out more about this mission, or to hire our premises click here.

As an extension of this outreach we also hold a weekly coffee morning, which has been described as ‘a diamond in the week’, a focal point for everyone and anyone to meet together in friendship.  It is extremely popular, and everyone receives a warm welcome.

We support local charities financially from our weekly giving and through special collections and gift services (eg at Harvest and Christmas).  Local organisations we have supported during the past year include Phyllis Tuckwell Hospice, Step by Step, LivingStones, the Samaritans, SeeAbility, and Byways.

Fleet URC is also part of Christians Together in Fleet and Crookham, a group of local churches seeking to share God’s love in the community.  Together we support and sponsor a variety of community projects and events that express our Christian unity.  These include:

  • FACCTS (Fleet and Crookham Churches Together in Schools)

Operating in local primary and secondary schools, FACCTS works with students and staff in order to share the Good News with them.  Projects include curriculum support, after-school and lunchtime clubs, and staff support.  More information can be found on FACCTS’ website.

  • Fleet Town Centre Project (Fleet Angels)

Every Friday and Saturday night a team of trained volunteers are in the centre of Fleet offering refreshments, care and a reassuring presence to those relaxing and working in the town at night.

  • Hart Foodbank

Run in partnership with the Trussell Trust, this project provides emergency food parcels for those in crisis from donations given by people in Fleet.  More information can be found on Hart Foodbank’s website.

  • LivingStones Christian Centre

LivingStones is a registered Christian charity with a town centre shop selling Bibles, Christian books, CDs, DVDs and gifts.  More information can be found on the LivingStones website.
